Dog Programs
Grant County, with its remote location and economic challenges, can be a difficult place for dogs. There are simply too few suitable homes for the number of litters produced each year, and there is no animal shelter or holding facility for unwanted or lost dogs. The winters are harsh, and the highways are dangerous. That’s where Hope4Paws steps in for the dogs! When a dog is reported as stray, we make a concerted effort to locate the owner. If no owner is found, we have a small network foster homes to house the dogs until they can be rehomed. Hope4Paws also works with local vet clinics to help find homes for adoptable dogs facing euthanasia because their owners can no longer care for them. Hope4Paws does not operate a shelter and doesn’t have the budget or facilities to accept dog surrenders directly from owners. However, we can refer owners to shelters and placement agencies outside the local area that may be able to help. The amount of rescue work we do depends entirely on funding and the willingness of the community – you and your neighbors – to help out. Foster homes are a critical need. |
Cat Programs
